Rewinding a Reissue Wide Range Humbucker
Posted by Martin A Smith on
Just wanted share a couple of photos showing the difference between the internals of a stock Fender reissue Wide Range Humbucker and one I have rewound.
The reissue Wide Range Humbuckers are internally very different to the originals. In addition to using a single bar magnet rather than individual magnetic pole-pieces, the bobbins are much smaller than the originals, they use standard humbucker bobbins. The rest of the space under the cover is filled with wax and padding.
I make my own replacement bobbins which are the same size as the originals and my own steel reflector plate, which sits between the bobbins and the baseplate.
